The Rainbow Connection Competition

Where Talent IS the Treasure!

Providing dancers with the opportunity to showcase their talent in a professional yet nurturing atmosphere has been the guiding principle by which Rainbow Connection has operated for 15 years. The thousands of competitors and directors who are greeted by a warm and friendly staff upon entering each competition venue recently called Rainbow Connection “the low-stress competition.”

A knowledgeable master of ceremonies also welcomes all entrants as they make their way to the stage, and every dancer whether he or she is performing a solo or in a group, is introduced by name. This personal interaction helps to foster the confidence needed to execute routines flawlessly.

This year competitors in Rainbow Connection’s Newbie division (dancers with two years or fewer of training) are eligible for “Newbie” Overall High Points in all four age divisions within each of the following categories: solo, duo/trio, small group, large group, line and production.

In an effort to recognize the amount of work that goes into the costumes showcased on the Rainbow stage, the costume division had been expanded to include all competitors at no additional entry fee. This is one of the ways the directors say thank you to studio owners and parents who work hard to make each Rainbow Connection Event a success.

In 2007, four Dancer of the Year finalists; Alexis Stover (The Element Dance Center, CA), Camryn Conforti (Just Plain Dancin’, CA), Kim Alvarez (Ann’s PAC, MO) and Dena’h Gregory (Dance Xcel, KS), won a 10-day trip to Gold Coast Australia where they competed in the Showcase National Australian Dance Championships Jan. 13-21, 2008. This is the first year four dancers have been awarded this exclusive prize.

Rainbow Connection is proud to introduce a special award for dance teachers, recognizing them for their special contribution to the lives of many young dancers today and in the past. Teachers nominated by peers, students and parents will be honored at both Branson, MO and Anaheim, CA finals.

There will also be a red carpet ceremony at the Anaheim Disneyland Nationals honoring both the Dancer of the Year finalists and the Dedication to Dance nominees and winner. This year’s National Gala Event will include a banquet, DJ and dancing, live entertainment, open bar and a Disney characters.
